My 7 YO granddaughter received an iPod for her birthday last year, but wasn’t using it as much as we would like. We soon figured out the reason was because it’s hard to charge on the laptop, and because she couldn’t easily share her music with her friends. I thought a docking station with speakers might be a good option for her, and the iPanda is oh so cute for a little girl. So I got it for her for Christmas.

It worked out great: very easy for her to use (her iPod is always charged now) and she uses it constantly. But the unexpected part was the sound quality. I was expecting it to be lower quality, since this product looks like it’s geared toward children. I was wrong. It sounds FAR better than I expected. Now her parents “borrow” it for their iPods and it fills the house with music when cranked up. What a shock – good bass tones and crisp, clean treble. I highly recommend this docking station!

I use this ipanda with my iPhone 3G and run Pandora, It works GREAT. I had some trouble at first. Now, I turn on the power slide switch located on the back of the ipanda. Then, place my iphone into the connector. I do not use any of the adaptors that fit around the connector. My iphone will automatically turn on, and the airplane message will flash on the screen. I ignore it, do not give any answer, and it will go away. My iphone will stay connected to my wifi and will charge my iphone. I select the Pandora icon, and Pandora will begin to play through the ipanda, with great sound. I can reach my iphone home button when I need to. The iphone will charge while connected. I use Wonderadio also, to listen to radio stations. When finished, I lift off the iphone, and turn off the ipanda by sliding the power button on the back to the off position. This is a small speaker system with plenty of volume and great sound at a reasonable price. Works reliable with the iPhone 3G in the way I describe. Perfect. Do not hesitate to get this ipanda, you will be very happy with it. Simple to attach and use. Easy to change volume by touching the ears. There is a remote to easily change bass and treble levels. I looked at ipig and iboo also, but am happy I got the ipanda. Very well made, solid, excellent sound and charges your iphone. SUPER GREAT.

I had the remote fail on me after three weeks only. I changed the battery, but other than that I don’t see what might have caused this.

I am still using the iPanda, but it’s uncomfortable to deal with the iPod controls directly.

Also, as my hand is above the iPanda’s ears (while controlling the iPod), the volume gets modified, usually leaving it at a very loud level, which is another annoying thing.

Would not recommend to friends to buy this.

Got one as a Mothers Day present for my wife and I have been playing with it all day at the office. I am really tempted to keep it here, but alas it must go home for the nursery. Great product and much nicer all around than I was expecting.

I got the iPanda 2.1 for my wife and 6 yo daughter because they both adore pandas. This is our first iPod dock and it works fine with my daughter’s 4th generation iPod w/o needing an adaptor. A small remote control is used to adjust the volume, treble and bass levels and for program selection.

This is not a toy but a piece of good quality audio equipment and I think it’s priced right for what it does. It is well built and its appearance belies its performance. As for its size/weight, it is a bit smaller and a lot light than a bowling ball as it does have some heft. We all love that the volume can be adjusted by simply touching the iPanda’s ears, which is much preferred over using the tiny remote. Because of its small size, the remote is very busy so it can be difficult to find the right button for the specific function you need to perform and you do need the remote whenever you want to change what you’re listening to and for some other operations.

The sound quality is OK but I do not consider it high fidelity. For me, there’s something missing in the sound quality, maybe a crispness or brightness as the music seems to come across a bit on the muted side. But even though it’s not perfect, it looks great when it’s playing and it sounds mostly good to my ears. Most important though is that both my wife and daughter are extremely pleased with it so that’s what counts most to me.

These Speakal iPod docks are definitely worth considering if a novel looking iPod dock that can produce satisfying bass and reasonably good treble w/o breaking the bank is something you’re looking for.
